Program Details
For infants,
the Active Learning Series, a well-known curriculum, has proven
to be a successful learning tool. All activities are age
appropriate and assist in achieving developmental milestones.
Activities are carefully chosen to meet the needs of each child.
In order for parents to extend learning in the home, daily
activities are posted in the classroom for review. Sign language
is introduced at this level to help children communicate their
needs as they work toward developing their verbal skills. In our
clean, child oriented environment, each child is given plenty of
attention, thus promoting ultimate mental and physical growth.
The
Active Learning Series extends to toddlers (one and two year
olds). The curriculum is developed to provide hands-on
activities that allow children to explore, inquire and discover
solutions first-hand. Teachers create individualized daily
lesson plans which meet all your child’s developmental needs.
These lesson plans focus on building language, creativity, fine
and gross motor skills and social interaction.

Your Child’s Classroom
Our goal
in the infant and toddler rooms is to provide a safe, nurturing
and stimulating environment that will foster your infant's social,
emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Tempered glass
walls surround each classroom from floor to ceiling, enabling
children to see their surrounding environment.
In the
infant rooms, to maintain the cleanliness of the room, staff and
family members wear foot booties to eliminate outside dirt and
debris. We provide each child with a crib; clean sheet and
blanket laundered daily, and a drawer for their personal items.
In the
toddler rooms, children will have their own cubby in which to
keep their belongings (i.e. extra clothing, diapers, diaper
cream or powder). Additionally, our toddler rooms are equipped
with a special potty-training restroom with child-sized potties in which the staff are
able to see and assist the child.
Each classroom has a
parent board. Every morning, please check the parent board for
new notices. The parent board
also holds a copy of the weekly lunch menu and snack schedule
(for older infants), as well as a copy of our Child Guidance
Policy and Health Care Policy.
All glass containers,
plastic bags, or otherwise unsafe materials are stored in a safe
area designated by the teachers. Medications are stored outside
the classrooms in a specifically designated, locked cabinet.
We want families to feel
secure regarding the care of their children. Family members have
the ability and pleasure of viewing their child from their
personal computer at home or work by using a private password to
gain entrance to our video camera system, Watch Me Grow. Parents
can observe their child in the classroom, the Kids’ Café, the
splash pad and the playground.

How We Communicate
Communication is an essential component of the high-quality care
here at Kids ‘R’ Kids.
Communication begins as the family arrives at school. Teachers
provide a Daily Report describing the child’s day as well as nap
times, snacks, lunch, diaper changes or toilet training, and any
supplies needed. These notes provide a daily record of your
child's growth and development as the teachers share a snapshot
of your child's day, comment on the cute face your baby made as
they tried carrots with lunch, their reaction to a new toy or
special interaction they had with another child.
Each
classroom has a Parent Information Board. Every morning, please check the
Parent Board for notices, lesson plans and weekly lunch menus.
All of
our classrooms are equipped with telephones and you are welcome
to call at any time of the day to check in and see how your
child is doing or share information too lengthy or private to
share during drop-off time.

Drop-Off Schedule
If you have two or more children in our care, we ask that you
drop off your older
child(ren) before you enter the infant or toddler areas. Please
pick your infant or toddler up first to reduce traffic and
exposure to illness and germs in the younger children’s area. We
also recommend that parents with more than one child in the
school stagger pick up times to ensure timely pickup. For
example, schedule your baby’s pickup time at 6:00 PM and your
preschooler’s pickup time at 6:15 PM. That way, if you want to
spend time talking with your child’s teacher, you will not be
late picking up your preschool child.
Your Child's Schedule
For families with infants, we will provide you with an Infant
Information Form. Please return this form completed prior to
your baby’s first day. Information you supply on this form
should include an approximate schedule regarding your baby’s
sleeping and feeding patterns. Please include details about the
most effective forms of comforting your baby and basic insight
into routines and approaches your baby responds well to. The
more information that you can share with us, the better we can
care for your baby.
Nursing Mothers
We welcome nursing mothers and our teachers are trained to
safely handle breast milk. You are welcome to nurse here at
school or supply breast milk for our teachers to use during
bottle-feeding. Please make clear the best way we can support
you during the first few months as you find a system that works
best for you and your baby.
Infection Control Policy
Maintaining health and preventing the spread of contagious
diseases are responsibilities shared by parents and our staff.
Our staff is trained in illness-prevention practices that limit
the spread of infections. Regular laundering of naptime sheets
and blankets, the use of gloves during diaper changing and the
employment of the proper cleansing agents, help in reducing the
spread of infections. Most colds and viruses are spread through
fecal/oral contamination. For this reason, our diapering
procedure is posted and is followed without exception. We ask
that you also follow our procedures when changing your child at
school.
A complete copy of our
Health Policy can be found in your Parent Handbook. We ask that
you work with us to help maintain a healthy environment. Our
experience is that if parents practice a “no
sick children at school”
policy, in the long run, all children will be healthier and
parents will miss less work.
