Program Details
For our preschoolers, ages 2
- 4, Kids ‘R’
Kids offers a core curriculum comprised of weekly units that
support and extend monthly themes. Each unit is filled with
activities designed to meet the needs of all types of learners.
Daily group times and enrichments are designed to expand a
child’s vocabulary and knowledge of the world around them.
Various activities at each learning station support the theme
based lesson. Kids ‘R’ Kids also enriches its curriculum through
music, which is professionally written and recorded to reinforce
concepts. In addition to the core units, supplemental units are
provided on a quarterly basis. Weekly lesson plans are posted to
keep parents informed about their child’s learning experience at
Kids ‘R’ Kids. Physical development needs are met with daily
opportunities to use large muscles, including running, jumping
and balancing. Outdoor activities are planned daily so children
can express themselves. Small muscle skills will be strengthened
through play activities such as puzzles, painting and cutting.

Your Child’s Classroom
Classrooms are divided
into learning centers including: Blocks and Building Design,
Dramatic Play, Library and Literature, Math and Table
Activities, Music and Movement, Sand and Water, Science and
Discovery and Writing Exploration. Play in these clearly defined
interest areas promotes the independence he or she seeks,
fosters decision making and encourages hands-on involvement
while he or she acquires the core components of development:
Language, Socio-Emotional, Cognitive, Physical and Aesthetic.
Your child will have their
own cubby in which to keep their belongings (i.e. extra
clothing, diapers).
All glass containers,
plastic bags or otherwise unsafe materials are stored in a safe
area designated by the teachers. Medications are stored outside
the classroom in a specifically designated, locked cabinet.
Each classroom, including
the gym, is equipment with “boy” and “girl” restrooms as well as
hand washing sink for optimal convenience.
We want families to feel
secure regarding the care of their children. Family members have
the ability and pleasure of viewing their child from their
personal computer at home or work by using a private password to
gain entrance to our video camera system, Watch Me Grow. Parents
can observe their child in the classroom, the Kids’ Café, the
gym, the Learning Center, the water splash pad and on
the playground.

How We Communicate
Communication is an essential component of the high-quality care
here at Kids ‘R’ Kids.
Daily conversations,
telephone calls, newsletters, parent/teacher conferences and
online calendar are all communication tools used to keep you
informed and involved.
Each classroom has a
Parent Information Board. Every morning, please check the parent
board for new notices. The parent board also holds a copy of the
weekly
lesson plan, weekly lunch menu and your child's weekly
schedule.
All of
our classrooms are equipped with telephones and you are welcome
to call at any time of the day to check in and see how your
child is doing or share information too lengthy or private to
share during drop-off time.

Drop-Off Schedule
If you have two or more children in our care, we ask that you
drop off your older
child(ren) before you enter the infant or toddler areas. Please
pick your infant or toddler up first to reduce traffic and
exposure to illness and germs in the younger children’s area. We
also recommend that parents with more than one child in the
school stagger pick up times to ensure timely pickup. For
example, schedule your baby’s pickup time at 6:00 PM and your
preschooler’s pickup time at 6:15 PM. That way, if you want to
spend time talking with your child’s teacher, you will not be
late picking up your preschool child.
Infection Control Policy
Maintaining health and preventing the spread of contagious
diseases are responsibilities shared by parents and our staff.
Our staff is trained in illness-prevention practices that limit
the spread of infections. Regular laundering of naptime sheets
and blankets, the use of gloves during diaper changing and the
employment of the proper cleansing agents, help in reducing the
spread of infections. Most colds and viruses are spread through
fecal/oral contamination. For this reason, our diapering
procedure is posted and is followed without exception. We ask
that you also follow our procedures when changing your child at
school.
A complete copy of our
Health Policy can be found in your Parent Handbook. We ask that
you work with us to help maintain a healthy environment. Our
experience is that if parents practice a “no
sick children at school”
policy, in the long run, all children will be healthier and
parents will miss less work.
